Meet Vartan - Customer Support Agent

Can you introduce yourself?

Hi! I'm Vartan and next month will mark my first year at Sparkers. I'm currently based in the Yerevan office, and I work as a Customer Support Agent. For a big chunk of my life, I have been an expatriate, where I have lived and studied in Beirut, Lebanon for the first 33 years of my life. I graduated from Haigazian University with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Management Information System. After graduation, I gained strong experience working in an accounting software firm, where I was part of the technical support team for more than seven years before moving to Armenia. In a way, I consider my experience working in the Yerevan office to be an extraordinary one, where two expats from completely different countries decided to return to their motherland to live and work there: and that's the perfect recipe for a remarkable journey.

What is your role at Sparkers and what is your career path so far?

Throughout the years, my career has always revolved around providing better service/assistance to customers. In my previous job, I worked as a technical support agent. Later on, I joined Sparkers as a Customer Support Agent and became part of its first line support team.

What does a normal day for you look like?

My day starts very early: before heading to the office, I always go for my daily one-hour run. This helps me get ready for the day as it prepares me to tackle any challenges that may come my way with a clear and focused mind. After arriving at the office, I organize my schedule for the day. Then I move on to working on the tasks that are a top priority. Afterward, I attend team meetings, where we discuss different issues that we are facing, and, accordingly, I write comprehensive reports about ongoing cases. Finally, after a long day at work, along with some of my colleagues, we usually go swimming to reflect on our day and hit the refresh button for the next day.

Why do you like Sparkers?

When we first landed in Armenia, my wife and I didn't really have a lot of friends and acquaintances, so, naturally, that was something we were worried about. As time passed, I started noticing how much my colleagues (those in the office or remote ones) were doing their best to help me in my integration journey, both within the company and the country itself. In parallel to that, my leaders/mentors at Sparkers trusted me and believed in my abilities; this boosted my confidence and helped me perform my tasks in the best way possible. Sparkers not only allowed me to constantly seek professional development, it even allowed me to expand my language skills. Today, as I'm about to celebrate my one-year anniversary working at Sparkers, I'm also happy to say that I have even had the chance to successfully pass the French A1 level. Sparkers helped me restore my own spark; the same spark I was struggling to keep alive back in Beirut, and for that, I will always be grateful.

What are your favorite video game & hobbies?

In my spare time, I like to read books, watch documentaries and practice healthy lifestyle habits, such as participating in all kinds of sports activities. Additionally, I really enjoy playing video games. However, in order to maintain a healthy balance, I schedule a specific time for playing video games. In fact, I'm very selective when it comes to choosing the games I play; as someone who plays and follows sports activities, I like to play FIFA/NBA. But I also enjoy playing my all-time favorite series 'Battlefield’ as I have been a die-hard fan of this game since 'Battlefield 1942' was launched. However, my favorite thing to do is spending time with my family, especially in nature, where I try to be a positive influence on my 4-year-old son and encourage him to explore his environment, connect to nature, and ultimately, have valuable and fun adventures.
