Top News Items

    • E3 has concluded. Microsoft won the E3 award for Best Presentation with GamePass winning the hearts of many as almost all the games showed will be coming to the service on day 1 of release. Among the 15 showcases (including Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest) approximately 180 games and products were shown .

    • Games releasing for 2022 that are playable on the Xbox Series will get cloud streaming support for the Xbox One. Games supported include Microsoft Flight Simulator, Starfield, Redfall, and Stalker 2.

    • Forza Horizon 5 was voted most Anticipated Game at the Xbox Showcase and won the Best Presentation award at the E3 Award Show.

    • The Xbox Design Lab is back up and running after being temporarily discontinued last October. Gamers can buy customized Xbox Series controllers with thousands of color combinations. Prices for the controllers start at $70, with an extra $10 charged for engravings.

    • Cyberpunk 2077 will return to the PlayStation Network Store from the 21st June.

    • Rockstar Games will shut down servers for Grand Theft Auto Online on the Xbox 360 and PS3 from the 16th December 2021. Shark cards (Grand Theft Auto Online currency cards) will no longer be redeemable for those two systems from 15th September 2021.

    • Take Two has expanded its mobile business with a $378 million acquisition of mobile developer Nordeus, developer of the game Top Eleven.

    • The new game Back 4 Blood, which got showcased in E3, will enable all co-op players to share any DLC bought by one or more players while in-game. This will prevent any leveling issues in the game while simultaneously promoting DLC to potential future buyers.

    • Facebook will start to add in-game advertising in its VR headsets (Oculus Quest 2). The first game to include in-game advertising is Blaston, but other VR games and apps are expected to follow suit.

    • During the 'Festival of FUTball', EA has made it possible to preview what type of FUT cards a buyer will get before purchasing. It is most likely EA is testing the ground to see if they will change the way all FUT cards are bought in the future, to mitigate any claims the current method constitutes as gambling. Previews of these new cards are timed, and the card packs are refreshed every day and the card packs are also on a first come first serve basis.
