Top News Items

    • Nintendo posted its fiscal 2021 results. Revenue for the fiscal year increased by +34% to $16.1 billion. This is three times the growth from the previous fiscal year. Both software and hardware sales increased by +37% respectively. Operational income increased +82% to $5.9 billion.

    • Ubisoft posted its fiscal 2021 results. Net bookings increased +46% to €2.2 billion. Digital revenues increased by 28% to €1.6 billion. Operating income increased fourteen-fold to €473 million.

    • Capcom posted its fiscal 2020 results. Net sales increased by +17% to ¥95 billion. Operating income increased +52% to ¥35 billion. Although outside its 2020 fiscal, Capcom announced new released Resident Evil Village (RE8) has shipped over 3 million copies worldwide.

    • Konami posted its fiscal 2021 results. The digital entertainment category, which includes video games and mobile games, increased sales by +33% to ¥204 billion. Net income for the category increased +70% and reached ¥73 billion.

    • A new multiplayer game from EA, Knockout City, will be free to play in its first 10 days when it launches on the 21st May.

    • Roblox posted its first public financial disclosure since going public in March 2021, Revenue in Q1’21 came to $388 million, an increase of +140% since the same time last year. High R&D expenditure and payments to contributing members resulted with a net loss in the quarter of $134 million.

    • The Xbox Series X and S will launch in China on 10th June. The PS5 went on sale in China on Saturday 15th May, giving the PS5 a four-week advantage on the Xbox.

    • Sony has acknowledged supply constraints for the PS5 could continue into 2022 as supply cannot keep up with demand.

    • HTC will launch a new VR headset, the HTC Vive Pro 2, on the 4th June 2021. The headset will support 5K resolution and comes with a 120Hz panel. The bundle that comes with a base and tracking controllers will launch at €1399.
