Despite mixed reviews, A Minecraft Movie became the highest-grossing video game adaptation on its opening weekend in North America, earning $163M in just three days. Globally, it reached $314M — just $42M shy of Warner Bros’ all-time record with Barbie.
The Minecraft phenomenon shows no sign of slowing:

A follow-up movie seems all but certain.

Surprisingly, most major gaming companies (EA, Square Enix, Capcom, Take-Two) quickly recovered their share prices, demonstrating notable market resilience.
