Sony’s president, Hiroki Totoki, will hand over his acting PlayStation CEO role to Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino on the 1st of June.
Sony says its live service game hit Helldivers 2 is now PlayStation’s fastest-selling game launch ever, with sales “far exceeding expectations” at 12M copies sold across PC and PS5 in its first 12 weeks (beating the previous record of God of War Ragnarök, 11M units in 10 weeks). The success of Helldivers 2 bodes good and bad news. It could embolden Sony to invest more in its live service offerings, potentially at the expense of single-player narrative games.
