Microsoft stands alone, Nvidia dominates, Embracer Group shakes up Industry!

• Gamescom 2024 │

- Microsoft has confirmed, via a tweet on X, it will attend this August’s Gamescom in Cologne, with the “biggest booth yet”.

- Microsoft will be the only console maker to attend Gamescom. Back in April Nintendo announced it will not attend. Now comes news that Sony will also not attend, with a simple statement "We currently have no plans to exhibit at Gamescom 2024."

Nvidia became the world’s most valuable company after its share price climbed to an all-time high last week. The stock ended the trading day at nearly $136, up 3.5%, making it more valuable than Microsoft. It overtook Apple earlier this month. The stock is now residing at $124.

• The Embracer Group continues to close studios and lay off staff. The latest victim has been the studio, Pieces Interactive, the developer behind the recent Alone in the Dark reboot. The Embracer Group’s “restructuring programme” has seen 4532 employee redundancies in the past financial year alone from 44 studios closed, and 80 in development projects dropped.
  
  
•  Playground Games is delisting Forza Horizon 4 from online stores at the end of the year, due to "licensing and agreements" with the game's partners. On 15th December, Forza Horizon 4 will be removed from digital storefronts on PC and Xbox and Game Pass. Following this news the number of players for the game on Steam skyrocketed to 48,437, setting a new all-time record for the racing game, and representing an increase of 631%.
