    • EA has revealed some gameplay details of their last FIFA licensed game, expected on 30th September 2022. The game will include the World Cup Qatar 2022 as well as Women's World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 modes. FIFA 23 features women's clubs for the first time in series history, officially licensed Women's Super League and Division 1 Féminine. Additionally, they announced a new game mechanic: “Power Shot." Physical modelling has also improved mechanics when player limbs are impacted by the ball and also improved in-game gestures. Cross-play will make its debut with the game, allowing for console and PC gamers to play against each other.

    • Mojang, the owners of Minecraft, have released a statement confirming they will not sell NFTs in the game, saying, “The speculative pricing and investment mentality around NFTs takes the focus away from playing the game and encourages profiteering, which we think is inconsistent with the long-term joy and success of our player." 

    • Sony has acquired Repeat.gg with hosts leaderboards for esport tournaments.

    • Jagex, the makers of RuneScape, has made its first acquisition with the US studio Pipeworks, for an undisclosed sum. This will be the second time Pipeworks, which is famed for being a “for-hire” studio, has been sold since it was acquired for $100 million by the SumoGroup two years ago.

    • Ubisoft’s Q1 calendar numbers are down. Income came to €318 million, a -10% decrease on the same period last year. Bookings are also down -10%.

    • From the 29th August this year, Nintendo eShop cards cannot be redeemed for Wii U or 3DS games, and from 27th March 2023, it will no longer be possible to make purchases on Nintendo eShop for the Wii U and 3DS. It will also no longer be possible to download free content, including game demos.

    • The new GeForce RTX 4090 is seeing very high benchmark figures suggesting 2x GPU processing power of the RTX 3090. It is expected to release in October.
